More About My Online/Blogging Life
December 5, 2007 · Print This Article
Arika tagged me last week, and I’m finally getting around to answering her… sorry Arika!
Anyway, this meme is all about my online/blogging life. Here goes!
1. How long have you been blogging?
My first blog was my Beacon Financial Tips & Tools blog, and I started it in early 2006. A few months later, I started Tax Tips for eBay Sellers, then Financial Tips for WAHMs.
I update Financial Tips for WAHMs the most frequently, and it’s probably the blog I have the most fun with, posting pics for Wordless Wednesday and participating in memes like this one.
2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
I started a blog because I wanted to reach a younger crowd for my financial planning business. My typical client is 55-65 years old, but I really wanted to work with younger people, so I started blogging. It was a good move, and has turned into so much more than just marketing! Starting a blog was probably one of the best marketing strategies I’ve ever implemented.
As far as mentors, I don’t have just one mentor. I belong to several mastermind groups, including Mom Masterminds, and I’d say those groups of like-minded people are my mentors more than one or two people are.
3. Are you trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
Well, I went online to expand the business I already had in place – my financial planning business – but it really is a lot of fun too. I love checking Twitter every morning, and the various forums that I participate in. It’s like having the office chatter, without the office! And… I can turn it on or off as I want – the best of both worlds!!!
4. Tell me 3 things you love about being online.
- The people I’ve met. I can’t believe how many great people I’ve met and the relationships I’ve formed… all online!
- Having instant access to whatever I need, whether it’s information, tools, other people’s opinions. I can’t even remember what it was like NOT to have such instant access to whatever info I need right now!
- The ability to work from home. Without the Internet, I wouldn’t be able to work from home. I’d still be miserable working in some office for someone else. Need I say more???
5. Tell me 3 things you struggle with in the online world.
- Too many distractions. I love twitter, blogs and forums, but they can also be a huge distraction. Since efficiency is a huge key to my business being successful, I need to work on this!
- Too much information. As much as I love having instant access to whatever info I could possibly want, it can also be too much.
- Wanting to have everything! Whether it’s a new computer, a new software program, etc., there is always something new and improved that I just have to have. Thank goodness I have restraint!
Well, that’s my life online! Hope I didn’t bore you too much
I think everyone I would normally tag has already been tagged, so I won’t tag anyone this time around. My fault for taking so long to respond!
