Have Rising Gas Prices Changed Your Vacation Plans?
May 13, 2008
Earlier this year, Rick and I were planning on driving to Colorado for a week of camping, hiking and canoing. After watching gas prices rise, we have decided to vacation closer to home this summer.
While I was looking forward to the scenery in Colorado, we have plenty of good rivers for canoing and camping right here in Missouri, so it doesn’t make sense to spend the extra money it would cost to drive all the way to Colorado.
What about you? Have rising gas prices changed your vacation plans this summer?
Help Me Name My Newest Consulting Program!
May 12, 2008
I will be offering a new consultation called Jump Start Your Finances. It’s a consultation for young people - recent college graduates, young families, young professionals starting their first job, and any 20 or 30-somethings looking for help getting their finances started off on the right foot. I’ve actually offered this consultation for a while now, but I am finally “branding” it… giving it a name, a logo, etc.
I have the title already - Jump Start Your Finances - and my wonderful graphic designer (Jeni at DesignDelites) is working on a header and buttons for me.

Title: Learn How to Avoid the Top 4 Mistakes Small Business Owners Make With Their Cash Flow
If you’re a small business owner, then you know that ‘cash is king’. Unfortunately, most small business owners don’t have a good handle on their cash flow, which could lead to business failure down the road.
Get a Jump on Next Year’s Taxes Now
May 7, 2008
If you’re like me, tax season is exhausting and stressful, especially if you owe Uncle Sam. The deadline is past, but you may still wonder if you paid too much or if you missed any deductions that could have saved you money. Well the best way to avoid that overtaxed feeling (pun intended) is to get a jump on next year’s taxes now.
Here are a few smart tax moves you can do now to make next year’s tax season less painful:
Get organized: If your tax filing system consists of shoeboxes and shopping bags, now is a good time to move your finances to your computer. You still need to save key receipts and documents, but entering spending, savings and investment information into a program like Quicken or Microsoft Money (whichever is easier for you to use), will not only give you a clearer idea of your finances, but it will make your tax filing process much easier for your tax professional or if you do it yourself.
Where’s My Rebate Check!?!
May 1, 2008
The IRS started sending rebates out on Monday April 28.
If you haven’t gotten yours yet, or you’re just wanting to check to see when you can expect to receive it, the IRS has added a “Where’s My Rebate” feature to their website.
This is an interactive feature that allows you to enter your
personal information (Social Security number, filing status, and number
of exemptions on your 2007 tax return) to find out the status of your
rebate.
You can also review the payment schedule and visit the Economic Stimulus Payments Information Center for more information about the rebate check.
